This has to be the most irritating message on the web. After 4 days of head scratching and research I think you may actually be able to read this.

So as per usual I was trying to do too much myself, and in a tired state went about updating some settings to speed up the site. It went horribly wrong!

first I managed to disconnect my domain and lock myself out the editor page. once I got back in through php the fun really started, all my dns and name servers were gone, well, so I thought.

after resetting things several times I forgot to clear cache settings so kept seeing the dreaded error 404 even though everything should be fixed. so I reset again and again and just for good measure again and again and again. still my problem persisted, until it finally dawned on me to sort out the cache.

so long story short, feeling slightly foolish we are now back in action. but I am leaving the advanced settings well alone.

If only the internet was made of wood!

Yesterday saw another moment that left me in a state of confusion about what on earth goes through the minds of some people.

I got called out to repair a raised step in an office toilet, fairly standard and straight forward.

The confusing part came once I had taken up the floor boards to discover what was supposed to support the weight of a person. it was this thin stick of wood and 3 very short screws with no support underneath.

no matter how many times I find something like this it still amazes me that someone thought “I know what to do here” to then completely cowboy it in a way destined to fail. Although, I should probably thank them for creating work for me that without their strange attempts and bodge it attitudes would never need to be done in my lifetime.
